Don't you think it's time for a long, holiday weekend? Memorial Day is here, with an extra day to relax and have fun. Since you're sure to have at least one cookout to attend, here are two events that you can enjoy on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, so you can fit them into your schedule.
Go to the Symphony's POPS concert for some great Broadway music one night, and sing along to Motown hits at Theatre Under the Stars (free!) on another evening. But let's not forget the reason for Memorial Day - the Houston National Cemetery has an honor ceremony on Monday morning, and METRO offers free bus service there all day.
You can travel to these events and many more, using METRO's bus and light-rail network. You know what to do - plan your trip with our
Trip Planner. And – drum roll - we have something new and neat to make the upcoming summer even more fun – free fares for K-12 students from June 1 through September 1, so you can take even more family excursions while saving money. Here's the link to information about the
Summer of Fun Pass – check it out. Enjoy this three-day weekend!
Houston Symphony – Classic Broadway. This concert series is Michael Krajewski's final bow as Houston Symphony's POPS conductor, so it's worth attending both for the wonderful music and because he's such a great entertainer. The music celebrates Broadway's Golden Age – think Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Gershwin, and Lerner and Lowe. You'll enjoy tunes that you've loved for a long time. Tickets can be purchased through the website.
