Valentine's Day is Thursday – but you can observe this special day throughout the weekend with a free film festival that highlights amazing stories of courage – or a concert of traditional romantic standards from the Queen of Jazz. If you're over the hearts and arrows, take in a basketball game instead.

Event: ReelAbilities Houston Film & Arts Festival. This city-wide film and arts festival is dedicated to presenting films, art exhibits, performances and speakers that celebrate the lives and stories of people with disabilities and enrich Houston's culture, diversity and inclusion efforts.  Free.

When: Sunday (through Thursday, Feb. 20)

Event: The Ella Fitzgerald Songbook. Keep the romance alive by tapping your toes to romantic standards that never go out of style. "Our Love is Here to Stay," "Come Rain or Come Shine" and many more will be song by vocalists Montego Glover, Capathia Jenkins and N'Kenge with conducting by Steven Reineke.

When: Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 7:30 p.m.

Event: Rice University Owls vs. Rhode Island at Reckling Park. Watch as the Owls Men's Baseball play Rhode Island Men's Baseball. Tickets start at $15.
