It's the last weekend of the year, and if you've eaten too many cookies this holiday season, work off those calories by gliding under the stars with the lights of downtown Houston as a backdrop. We've also got a life-sized gingerbread house you can admire but not touch – the perfect treat that won't add pounds. It's a fun spot for a holiday selfie.

Finally, if you need one unforgettable experience for you and your visiting grandkids, take in the Ally's A Christmas Carol. It's a ghost story every parent can endorse as the audience learns about the true meaning of giving during this season.

METRO has a gift for all of you – free rides on New Year's Eve on all buses, trains and METROLift. We'll help get you to your parties and bring you home without the stress of navigating parking and driving. Use our Google-powered Trip Planner to find the specific bus or train from your starting point.

Event: The ICE powered by Green Mountain Energy. Show off your skating moves on the biggest outdoor ice skating rink in the Southwest. Created from recycled water from Discovery Green's Kinder Lake, the rink offers skating to live music, DJs and even outdoor movies.
