Fifty more reasons to ride METRO

Check out our Rider Rewards program, treat yourself to lunch at a new restaurant – and save money at the same time.

Whether you're in the mood for smoothies or sushi, tacos or salads – you can get a discount at a variety of eateries simply by showing your METRO Q® Fare Card.

The Rider Rewards program has nearly 50 locations where you can receive a discount on your purchase. Most restaurants are offering 10 percent off on any purchase. And many of these are within walking distance of the Red Line, making a lunchtime outing an easy and quick event.

Recently, employees joined in on METRO's Halloween Crawl, where people rode the Red Line to participating stops for "Trick or Treat" goodie bags and discounts at six restaurants.

Some of the most recent eateries to join our Rider Rewards program are Hearsay Market Square, Fabian's Latin Flavors, Sapporo Japanese Sushi and Bar and Charlie's BBQ and Salad.

Restaurants aren't the only business giving discounts. Get that cracked cell phone screen fixed at UbreakIFix, take the kids to the Houston Zoo, or update your hairstyle at Kat's Meow Salon. Out-of-town guests visiting you? Send them to Houston City Tours while you clean the guest room.

If you want a taste of culture and history, explore the Buffalo Soldier Museum, the Czech Center Museum Houston, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, or the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. They offer discounts ranging from 40 percent off to $5 off.

 "The program is expanding and catching the attention of local partners, and more importantly, riders.  Our affinity program is designed to reward our loyal customers while branding METRO as the best transportation alternative," said Danicel Whitaker, vice president of Ridership & Client Services. "Riders simply show their transit METRO Q® Fare Card or fare item at participating locations to receive a discount."
