Podcast urges safety around the rail

When you see tracks, think train.

That's the safety message on this new edition of METRO's podcast, The Next Stop.

This is Rail Safety Week, and host Laura Whitley talks to both our top safety officer, Tim Kelly, and Terald Riggens, a light-rail operator who's been driving trains for five years.

METRO has painted the ends of its trains bright red and blue to catch pedestrians' attention. It also uses Bluetooth technology to announce on-coming trains at certain busy stations. Operators also sound the horns loudly each time a train approaches a station.

All these safety measures are designed to get you to stop, look and listen. Pay attention, take those earbuds out when around trains, and stay safe.

Listen to the podcast and experience a behind-the-scenes conversation with an experienced rail operator.
