If you're a METROLift customer, we have good news.
METROLift is enhancing its METROLift Subsidy Program by increasing METRO's subsidy from $8 to $10. The increased subsidy is part of a six-month program that began Aug. 1.
The METROLift Subsidy Pilot Program (MSP) works like this:
Riders pay the first $1, and METRO pays the next $10. If the fare rises above $11, the rider pays the driver any amount more than $11. When a client gets into the cab, the driver does a "flag drop" in which he lowers the red flag on the meter to signal the start of a trip. The meter starts at $2.80 and begins ticking. For every mile traveled, the meter will add $2.20.
The MSP service is great for short trips.
Riders will receive same-day service with no shared rides or stops. Family and friends ride free with the METROLift customer anywhere in the METRO service area.
No reservations are required, although Yellow Cab will accept reservations one day in advance. Upon request, a wheelchair-accessible minivan is available. To get a ride, simply call Yellow Cab at 713-223-0303, give the reservationist your ID number, and ask for an "MSP Cab."
