METRO welcomes new board member

A native Houstonian who grew up in the East End became METRO's newest board member when she was appointed by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on July 11.

Theresa "Terry" R. Morales, a senior vice president of Amegy in the corporate banking division, was approved by City Council to serve on the METRO Board of Directors. The city appoints five of the nine seats.

METRO Board Chair Carrin Patman, along with Dr. Lex Frieden, Troi Taylor and Sanjay Ramabhadran, were reappointed to the board. (In the photo above are, left to right: Taylor, Morales, Patman and Ramabhadran).

"It's really an honor because I grew up in the East End," said Morales. "Our main mode of transportation was public transportation, so to serve on the METRO board is such an honor." A graduate of the University of Houston, as well as Leadership Houston and the Center for Houston's Future, Morales also serves on the board of the Houston/Gulf Coast chapter of the American Leadership Forum (Senior Fellow Class XXXIV).
