Subway designs can inspire

Go underground, and catch a subway anywhere around the world. Sometimes, you'll find works of art that will inspire you.

Architectural Digest recently posted photos of 15 subway stations that feature beautiful design. Take a look at Montreal's Guy-Concordia station with bold tile work. Or the cheerful mint green walls at Cowcaddens station in Glasgow, Scotland.

Closer to home, there's the brightly-colored mosaic at the Buhre Avenue Station in the Bronx in New York's subway system.

Explore these subway gems – and then the next time you're in a subway, be prepared to be inspired.

Here in Houston, take a ride along METRORail. You'll find beautiful artwork at various stations by local artists who received input from the neighboring communities. Take a look at our Arts in Transit program. For example, at the Northline Transit Center/HCC Station on the Red Line, you'll see artist Rolando Briseno's work honoring local Tejano heroes.

Which is your favorite?
