Free Shuttles to Ease Astros Game Traffic

This Thursday, the Astros will be playing a home game against the Oakland A's at Minute Maid Park.

Typically, this means traffic significantly increases downtown as Houstonians support their champion home team. To alleviate congestion along Congress Avenue, METRO is offering free "GO ASTROS" shuttles.

The shuttle will operate on Congress between La Branch and Travis to pick up Park & Ride customers and drop them off at these stops where normal service will resume. The shuttle will run every 10 to 15 minutes.

For those of you attending the game, an easy way to sidestep gridlock and parking woes is to take METRORail. Tickets are only $1.25 one way. Buy a ticket on your smart phone, or pick up a METRO Fare Card.

Hop on the Red Line to Central Station Main. Walk two blocks east to Central Station Rusk and board the Green or Purple Line. Then exit at Convention District Station.

Or, if you're trying to reach your goal of 10,000 steps a day, take the Red Line and exit at Preston Station. Then walk six short blocks directly to Minute Maid Park.
