Why Seniors Love Riding METRO

They call themselves HATS – and that stands for Hobby Area Travel Social.

These seniors are adventurous, enjoy exploring their city – and this morning, they visited METRO to get their discounted METRO Q® Fare Card and learn how to ride our system.

Each received a goodie bag with brochures describing senior services, along with METRORail maps.

Nicole Adler, sales representative in Customer Service, gave a presentation on "How to Ride," teaching the elders how to plan a trip, transfer and navigate schedules.

"They all left with a smile and ready to enjoy the ride," said Adler.

After each was issued a personalized and discounted Q Card, they rode the Red Line for their first adventure of the day. "We do stuff, we have fun, we meet interesting people at interesting places," says the website of this social club for people 50 years and older. Today, that place was METRO.

METRO offers senior discounts of half price for those 65 years and older; and free rides for those 70 years old and better.
