Greenlink Expands Free Service

GreenLinkBus2.jpg

Downtown workers and visitors now have an even more convenient way to get around downtown with expanded hours and routes on the free Greenlink shuttle.

Downtown has experienced a burst of growth, including 16 residential buildings, seven hotels and three high-rise office buildings. And now, you can explore the new eateries and shops by hopping on and off Greenlink.

There are two routes – the Green Route and the Orange Route. The Green Route connects Avenida Houston and Main Street to downtown's southwest office corridor. The route is shifting two blocks north to Capitol Street to avoid the traffic jams and detours toward Avenida de las Americas.

The route includes a covered stop at the Avenida South Garage, along with stops at the north and south ends of the George R. Brown Convention Center.

The Orange Route includes the Theater District, Historic Market Square, Minute Maid Park, Avenida Houston, Discovery Green, GreenStreet, Main Street Square and City Hall. This route will now loop around Discovery Green with stops at the north and south ends of the George R. Brown, along with a covered stop at Avenida South Garage.

New hours: The Orange Route operates from Monday through Friday, 6:30 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, 9 a.m. to midnight; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Buses run every 10 minutes.

The Green Route operates from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with buses running every seven minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes in non-peak hours.

Greenlink is operated by METRO and funded by the Houston Downtown Management District, Houston First Corp. and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality with grants from Harris County.
